Who we are

Pro Rail Academy is Ireland’s first dedicated railway training academy, set up by Pro Rail Services to train the skilled workforce the country’s rail programme depends on.

Pro Rail Services is a family-run rail business that has worked across the UK and Irish networks since 2012, delivering civils, plant and haulage on live railways. The Academy grew out of that experience. We know exactly what employers expect on site because we’re one of them, and we’ve built our training around it.

Siobhan Maloney Eamonn Maloney

Ireland is about to spend more on its railways than ever before, and for years we’ve watched that work go short of skilled people while towns like Kiltimagh had plenty of people looking for a good career. The Academy brings the two together, and we’ll be as hands-on in it as we’ve been in every other part of this business.

The best training either of us has seen came from people who’d done the job themselves, and that’s what we’ve built here. Everyone who trains with us should leave confident on site and ready to keep learning, whatever stage of their career they’re at.

Who we help

  1. School and college leavers A practical route into skilled, well-paid work without a degree, starting with a short safety course and building from there.
  2. Former Irish Defence Forces The teamwork and safety discipline you learned in service are exactly what rail asks for, and we’ll help you turn them into a civilian career.
  3. Existing construction workers You already hold Safe Pass and know how a site runs. Adding rail tickets opens up steadier work on projects that run for years.
  4. University graduates Rail needs engineers, surveyors and project managers as much as it needs trackside crews, and we can add the site competencies your degree didn’t cover.
  1. Women in rail Sociis vitae at himenaeos ad facilisi condimentum sodales platea augue vestibulum nullam nibh a sed arcu vestibulum vestibulum vel purus parturient mi.
  2. Workers from the EU If you’ve worked on railways elsewhere in Europe, we’ll help you map your experience to Irish and UK standards and get the tickets you need to work here.
  3. Those with transferrable skills Plant operators, drivers, electricians and tradespeople of all kinds bring skills rail is short of, and a conversion course could be all you need.
  4. Main contractors and SMEs We train whole teams around the roles you’re hiring for, all at our centre in County Mayo, and help you plan the workforce behind them.
